Tatev, Goris & Southern Armenia: 2-Day Tour
Noravank on the way south, a night in Goris, the long cableway ride over the Vorotan gorge to Tatev, and the cave village of Khndzoresk.
Multi-day journeys
Three, five or seven days in Armenia need different overnight plans. Here is how to choose a length, where to sleep and what a multi-day package can include once confirmed in writing.
Noravank on the way south, a night in Goris, the long cableway ride over the Vorotan gorge to Tatev, and the cave village of Khndzoresk.
Three nights in Yerevan and three well-paced days: the capital, the temple and cliff monastery of Garni and Geghard, and Ararat views at Khor Virap.
Five well-paced days covering the capital, the classic temple and cliff monastery, Lake Sevan and the Dilijan forests, the south and Etchmiadzin.
A full week: the capital, the classic day trips, Sevan and Dilijan, Aragats or Gyumri, and the deep south with Tatev, the Wings of Tatev and Khndzoresk.
A multi-day Armenia tour is a private route spread over several days, with overnights chosen so the drives stay comfortable. We arrange these as suggested itineraries on request. You tell us your dates, group size and interests, we reply with a day-by-day plan and a written quote, and only what is listed in that quote is included.
The length decides how far you can go from Yerevan without exhausting yourself. Here is a quick comparison of our three main routes.
| Length | Where you go | Overnights | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | Yerevan, Garni and Geghard, Sevan and Dilijan, or Khor Virap | All in Yerevan | Short breaks, first visits, stopovers |
| 5 days | Adds Echmiadzin, Areni and Noravank, and more time in the north | Yerevan, optionally one night in Dilijan | Travellers who want the highlights without long drives |
| 7 days | Adds the south, with Tatev and the Goris area | Yerevan plus one or two nights in Goris or Dilijan | A complete first trip at a sensible pace |
Each length has its own detailed planning guide with day-by-day drive times: the 3-day Armenia itinerary, the 5-day itinerary and the 7-day itinerary.
Three towns cover almost everything a first-time visitor wants to see.
Yerevan is the default base. Garni (about 40–50 minutes), Khor Virap (about 45 minutes), Echmiadzin (about 30 minutes) and Sevan (about 1 hour) are all easy returns. Staying put for several nights means no repacking, and the evenings in the city are lively.
Dilijan is about 1.5 hours north-east. A night here makes sense if you want to walk in the forest, visit Haghartsin and Goshavank without hurrying, or continue to the Lori monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin.
Goris is about 4 hours south and the practical base for Tatev. Without an overnight, Tatev means 9–10 hours in the car in one day. With one, you can visit Tatev in the morning light, then see Noravank and the Vayots Dzor wine villages on the drive back.
A package includes only what is confirmed in your written quote. Depending on your request, that can be:
Entrance fees, meals and personal expenses are not assumed. If you want them included, ask, and they will be listed line by line.
Count your full days on the ground, not your nights. Arrival and departure days rarely allow a long trip, especially if your flight lands late at night or leaves early in the morning.
Season matters too. In winter, mountain passes in the south can be affected by snow, and some high roads such as Amberd and Lake Kari are usually closed. The best time to visit Armenia guide explains what changes month by month.
Each package is quoted individually. The total depends on the number of days, the vehicle, the group size, whether a guide joins every day, the route distance and any accommodation or extras you ask us to arrange. Larger groups usually share costs, so the per-person figure tends to fall as numbers rise. Your quote shows exactly what is included, and you can change any element before confirming.
Yes, and most are. Common changes include swapping Gyumri for the Lori monasteries, adding a hiking day near Dilijan, adding a free day in Yerevan, or building the route around wine. If you have a theme in mind, see our custom tours.
Three days covers Yerevan and the classic day trips. Five days lets you add Dilijan or a longer southern day. Seven days is the comfortable minimum for Yerevan, the north and an overnight in the south near Tatev without rushing.
Accommodation is not assumed. If you want help, we can suggest and request hotels or guesthouses that match your budget, and anything we arrange is listed in your written quote. You are also welcome to book your own rooms and use us for the driver and guide only.
No. Each multi-day tour is a suggested itinerary that we arrange privately for your dates. There is no fixed departure calendar, and the route can be shortened, extended or reordered.
Dilijan is the usual base in the north, about 1.5 hours from Yerevan. Goris is the usual base in the south, about 4 hours from Yerevan and close to Tatev. Both reduce long return drives.
Yes. A tour can begin with an airport pick-up and a light first afternoon in Yerevan, then start the longer days once you have rested.
Itineraries
Three days is enough for Yerevan and the two classic day trips east and south of the capital, as long as you sleep in one hotel and keep each day under about four hours of driving.

Seven days is enough to see Yerevan, the classic day trips, Lake Sevan and Dilijan, and the south with Tatev, if you plan the overnights carefully and keep Mondays away from the cable car.
